Itinerary
We will pick you up at your hotel around 5:00 am and drive for approximately 4 hours to Cachora. During the drive, we can admire the beautiful landscapes and snow-capped mountains of Apu Salkantay and Apu Veronica. After breakfast, we start our trek with a Mother Earth Offering with our Andean Priest to set our intention and show gratitude.
The trek begins with a 4-hour descent, bringing us closer to the roaring Apurimac River. We will enjoy a delicious lunch and later descend through the eastern slopes of the Andes to reach Coca Masana (2330m / 7,644ft). We will continue our hike to Chiquiska, observing how the flora and fauna slowly change along the route. There, we will stay overnight at a local homestay and enjoy our dinner.
Today will likely be the most challenging day of the trek. We begin with a tough 3-hour climb, offering our first glimpses of the Choquequirao ruins. We will enjoy our lunch in Marampata and then continue our hike to the archaeological site of Choquequirao, meaning “Cradle of Gold.” It once served as the control gate between the Amazon and the city of Cusco. The sacred Inca site is adorned with ruins, its buildings and terraces nestled below a flattened hilltop, leveled centuries ago and encircled with stones to create a platform. Our guide will provide more insights into the history and spiritual significance of this Inca citadel. Ample time will be given for personal exploration of this incredible site. Our spiritual guide will then lead a Unification Ceremony to deepen our connection with the energetic surroundings. Later, we will hike to Marampata and return for dinner and rest.
Waking up in the middle of the Andes is an unforgettable experience! We will start our day with an early breakfast and continue our ascent until reaching Chiquiska (1950m / 6,397ft), where we will spend the night. We will have a wonderful day, enjoying the breathtaking landscapes and moments of pure connection.
Following a nutritious breakfast, we’ll continue our hiking adventure until reaching Cachora. After a well-deserved lunch break, we will take our private transportation back to Cusco, arriving in the evening.
