Itinerary
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and drive for about one hour to the local community of Taucca in the Sacred Valley. The hiking adventure commences with an ancestral ceremony led by our Andean Shaman—a mindful moment to express gratitude to the spirits, ourselves, and to set an intention for this trek. Our 3-hour ascent takes us to the trek’s highest point, offering chances to admire several lagoons with breathtaking views. At the mountain pass, enjoy incredible vistas of snow-capped mountains and the Sacred Valley. Descending, we reach the village of Pucamarca, explore the ancient Inca ruins of Patabamba, and follow the original Inca trail to the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo (3650m / 11,975 ft), meaning “Little Cusco” in Quechua. This site was utilized by the Incas for rituals and offerings to their gods. In the late afternoon, acquaint yourself with a local family, learn about their customs, and enjoy a traditional dinner before staying overnight.
After savoring a delightful breakfast at the local homestay, our local guide will delve into the fascinating history of this archaeological site. Ample time is allocated to explore the remarkable ruins, featuring sacred temples, farming terraces, storehouses, water channels, and the original Inca reservoir. Following this, a 2-hour downhill hike brings us to the local community of Lamay. From there, we use private transportation to reach Ollantaytambo, where we enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we board a train to Aguas Calientes, where we spend the night at a hotel.
This is the day we’ve all been eagerly anticipating! Following a hearty breakfast at our hotel, we board the shuttle bus destined for the World Wonder of Machu Picchu. Guided by our local guide, we explore the key features of this ancient Inca citadel, including the Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Condor, Temple of Three Windows, Sun Dial, Quarry, the House of the Inka, urban areas, and agricultural terraces. Ample time is set aside for photography, with the option to visit Machu Picchu Mountain or Huayna Picchu Mountain (not included; please inform us in advance!). Afterward, we return to Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon, we board a train to Ollantaytambo /Poroy, reveling in the scenic landscapes of the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival, our driver awaits to transport us back to Cusco.

Alternatively, the shoulder months of April and October can also be good options. These months still offer relatively dry weather, but with fewer visitors compared to the peak season.

Please remember that the train company only allows carry-on baggage (a duffle bag or small backpack) with a weight no greater than 5kg/11lb and a maximum size of 62 linear inches/157 cm (height + length + width). Boarding with luggage larger than stated above will not be allowed.
